Salford Heart Care: Proud Winners of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2014
In June 2014, Salford Heart Care was selected as a recipient for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS). The award is the equivalent of an MBE for volunteer groups. The Deputy Lord Lieutenant Michael Oglesby visited our branch at Eccles in January 2014 as part of the assessment process. He was very impressed with our work and recognised the support and dedication of our team of more than 50 volunteers across Salford.
As a winner, we receive:
- Permission to use the official QAVS Logo
- A signed certificate from Her Majesty The Queen
- An English Crystal with the logo insignia
- Publication of our group’s details in a special edition of The London Gazette, published on 02 June 2014 (available to view online)
- An invitation to attend the Royal Garden Party
The Royal Garden Party took place at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 10th June – click here to see some photographs taken of the event – . Directors Marion El Qasem and Jim Collins, together with Coordinator Serena Rice attended on behalf of Salford Heart Care. On Wednesday 6th August we attended the formal awards ceremony at The Monastery in Gorton. Here, we were presented with a signed certificate from Her Majesty The Queen and an English Crystal with the logo insignia (presented locally by the Lord Lieutenant for Greater Manchester).
